Guideline for Competition in Cardio Tai-chi
Breakdown of rules and point system used to evaluate Cardio Tai Chi teams during competitions/tournaments

Performance Time: 3 – 5 minutes

Number of Team Members: 3 – 7
>
Scoring is based on a 10-point system:
>
Techniques value- total is 6 points.
This includes, coordination, agility, balance, flexibility, power, speed, rhythm, focus, and accuracy. The 6 points are divided below.
>
4 points- Compulsory Tai-chi techniques of any recognized major Tai-chi chuan style.
2 points- Elective movements or techniques from Cardio Tai-chi, Tai-chi Monkey, any Dance styles, acrobatic, Wushu, Karate, ect.

Choreography value
2 points- includes synchronization of group movements with music, group formation and use of
the stage area, special effects and showmanship.
>
Degree of Difficulty value
1 point- for difficulty in techniques (spinning and jump kicks), acrobatic movement,

Creativity value
½ point
>
Cardio outfit value
½ point-uniformity, coordination of colors, neatness
>
Required Mandatory Techniques for Each Team: Group A – Growth of the Bird (Grasping Bird’s Tail, Golden Rooster, & White Crane)
>
Teams must use between 6 and 12 techniques (out of a total of 13) from Dr. Weng’s Tai-Chi Monkey System or from any of the major standardized Tai-chi styles
>
Rules can be subject to evaluation updates.
